Greetings and Blessings,
As the chair of the Board for A Sacred Place, Inc., I am pleased to share with you a moment of my own immense joy in being connected with this innovative ministry.
We are trying to make visible something that is quite invisible in our times. Incarcerated women, many of them single mothers, poor, afflicted and addicted, are in dire need of assistance to help them heal, stand up and refocus their lives. With our accumulated years of experience, we of A Sacred Place see the need for these women to increase their spiritual strength and courage.
Tighter Connecticut budget constraints have worsened an already bad situation for providing spiritual program resources and presenters. But miracles of grace are happening for this vulnerable population and, with your help, they will continue. We are trying to foster deeper spirituality among incarcerated women by providing more spiritual resource material and obtaining more program presenters who will offer courses on prayer, meditation, arts and spirituality and healing from abuse and addiction. The programs are offered in an atmosphere that respects the individual faith traditions of all participants.
Contact us for more information on how you can help. Donations are always needed to fund our programs and to provide much needed resources. Volunteers are needed as individual prayer partners, Christmas toy wrappers and program providers. And, always, please keep incarcerated women, their families and this ministry in prayer!
Peace,
Sister Patricia Cook, RSM, PhD
